The University of Santa Cruz do Sul- UNISC, has been offering higher education training in the city of Santa Cruz do Sul since 1962 and recognized as a university since 1993. Its area of ​​activity mainly covers the Rio Pardo, Caí and North Coast valleys of the State of Rio Grande do Sul. It is maintained with other institutions in the area of ​​education and health, by APESC – Associação Pró-Ensino in Santa Cruz do Sul, a non-profit association formed by 77 members of society that meet to discuss the future of institutions. Currently, UNISC has more than 70 undergraduate courses in all areas of knowledge, in addition to a strong post-graduate performance with more than 40 courses, 9 masters and 6 doctorates. In university extension, it has projects in the social areas, incentives to sport, arts and culture with a Choir, a Chamber Orchestra, in addition to programs aimed at the elderly, qualification of basic education, and promotion of voluntary practices in the communities in which it operates.

UNISC was born from regional communities and it is for them that efforts are focused on the development of opportunities, innovations and technologies. Local demands and the interaction between society, industry and academia, guide, strengthen and qualify the training of their students. UNISC has already trained more than 40 thousand people. Training that is committed to the quality of the impact of these professionals on the social evolution of the region, the country and the world.
