The University of Vale do Taquari – Univates is a private, non-profit, higher education institution located in the city of Lajeado, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. With more than 50 years of history, Univates is an institution concerned with global relations and the development of modern society, while focused on the local community. Whether at a local or global level, we aim to provide quality education to our students, promoting research and the dissemination of knowledge throughout society.

Nowadays, Univates has more than 10,000 students in different areas of study (Management, Exact Sciences and Technology, Human and Social Sciences, Biological Sciences and Health, and Medical Sciences) and levels of education (Technical, undergraduate and graduate programs). The research lines of the university are focused on Teaching, Teaching of exact sciences, Environment and development, Environmental sustainable systems, Medical sciences and Biotechnology.

Univates has also a Science and Technology Park, Tecnovates, which is an innovation environment that offers a structure for Research, Development and Innovation (RD&I), mainly in the areas of food technology, environmental and energy technologies and health and well-being technologies, supported by information technologies (IT) and the creative industry.
