Steps to study in Rio Grande do Sul- Brazil:
Step 1- Academic offers
The first step is to familiarize yourself with the Brazilian educational system and the academic options available according to the level of education of interest.
COMUNG institutions offer training with classes:
– fully in person (Graduation, Specialization, Master and Doctorate)
– semi-face-to-face with some face-to-face classes (Graduation).
– totally at a distance, denominated in Brazil as distance learning courses – (Specialization only)
Step 2- Registration and selection
Graduation: Admission to an undergraduate course depends on obtaining a place at any university that can be done through:
- a) Vestibular. COMUNG universities offer the entrance exam twice a year, once in summer and once in winter on dates that vary according to their calendars. Interested parties must prove completion of high school.
- b) Transfer from a Brazilian or foreign university.
- c) Admission as a Graduate for those who already have a Graduate Diploma.
Specialization: In order to specialize, it is necessary to enroll in the course of interest to get a place.
Master’s and Doctorate: For Masters and Doctorates, the deadlines, procedures and admission requirements are defined by each institution through selection notices and may vary depending on each program.
Postdoctoral: The candidate interested in postdoctoral training at COMUNG Institutions, should contact the Postgraduate Program of interest or the Research Coordination of the institution.
Step 3- COMUNG Offers

Step 4- Training language
The foreign candidate must be aware that the official language of training in Brazil is the Portuguese language. The Examination for Certificate of Proficiency in Portuguese for Foreigners (Celpe-Bras) is the official Brazilian certificate of proficiency in Portuguese as a foreign language. It can be done at COMUNG universities.
COMUNG universities also offer some activities and disciplines in other languages and some programs offer flexibility in relation to the language requirement.
Step 5- Traveling to study at COMUNG Universities
Once accepted, you can count on the support of the international sector of the host university to obtain information on necessary measures such as: migratory requirements, documents, language requirements, among other issues.
